A bit about me…

Hello there! I’m so glad you’re here! I’m Monica, of Black Sheep Homesteading. I’m a born and raised Georgia girl, now living at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, in Colorado. I have a passion for cooking, making things with my hands and passing what I know, on to others.

I’m a mom of 4, two adults and two are still at home. When I’m not doing things at home or working my photography business of 13 years, Monica Gilliam Photography, I’m out exploring the beauty of Colorado and beyond.

I’m using this blog as a place to show others how I do things, and people can take it or leave it, but I do hope it helps some folks along the way. Black Sheep Homesteading gets its name from the fact that I am known as the “black sheep” of my family… I do things differently and that’s ok if you do too! But I do love how black sheep were seen to have little value because the wool couldn’t be dyed…because it couldn’t be changed. However, it’s since been realized that the wool from a black sheep is rare and valuable and beautiful and doesn’t need to be changed.
